WORLD OF ANIMALS

With a large variety of animals of all shapes and sizes waiting to greet visitors, including different breeds of dogs, horses and pigs this was one of the most popular areas for show-goers.

Dog breeds that attended included:

The show is a great chance to get up close to and learn more about other animals., In 2024 these included:

WORLD OF ANIMALS ARENA

A variety of acts perform in the World of Animals Arena each year, such as Dog & Duck Shows, Exmoor Pony musical rides, a parade of dogs and a parade of animals.

The Horsemen of the Knight appeared at the 2024 show, back by popular demand, performing their jaw-dropping display.

DOG DISPLAYS & DOG SHOW

Other displays within the World of Animals Arena included the new for 2024 Dog and Duck Show. Using both trained and untrained sheep dogs, expert handlers herded ducks and sheep in a friendly, fun demonstration, amusing and educating the audience about common dog behaviour issues and offered advice on how these can be resolved.

Visitors could also watch trilling dog agility and flyball displays, where speed, accuracy and a solid partnership between dog and handler are crucial, as well as interesting demos by Wrencourt Gundogs.

There was a dedicated informal Dog Show on the Sunday of the show in 2024 which was judged by qualified dog behaviourist, nutritionist, psychologist and hydrotherapist, Leon Towers. Leon also gave a talk about his work in the Garden Theatre.

The dog show started at 11:30am and was free to enter on the day. Entries into each class were capped and places were awarded on a first come, first served basis. The classes were:

  • Dog in best condition
  • Handsomest Guy
  • Loveliest Lady
  • Waggiest Tail
  • Best Trick

EXOTIC ANIMALS 

The extremely popular Exotic Animals area offers the chance to meet and learn more about fascinating and unusual creatures, including reptiles, birds and mammals.

RABBITS

A NEW for 2024 interactive area enabled visitors to get up close to rabbits and  learn in more detail about rabbit care and welfare, brought to the show by Cheltenham Animal Rescue!

There was also a pair of guinea pigs to look at and learn more about and  rabbit themed colouring activities for children.

HONEY SHOW

Visitors can learn everything there is to know about bees, including their lifecycle, how honey is made and how the different seasons effect the taste. Visitors can even pick up a jar or two to take home.

NATIONAL PIG SHOW

Watch as the British Pig Association Young Pig of the Year is chosen from a line up of some of the countries finest pigs.

You’ll also be able to watch Junior Pig Club members show off their prize swine!

A number of pig breeds will also host the champion of champions competition for pigs that have qualified from a number of shows across the UK. Confirmed breeds that attended in 2024 included: Gloucester Old Spots and Tamworth, with more to be announced soon.
